Hi!

I tried to boot with boot[12].fs on NWS-3260 (laptop machine). However
it panic with following message.

NEWS> bo fh
NetBSD/newsmips Primary Boot

panic: Memory parity error.
NEWS>

I saw it with 4.0RC5 and HEAD(200712150002Z).

What time is this machine support? ;-)

Thanks,

NWS-3260 has same on-board memory (4Mbyte). Not added optional memory.
First, I will try to install NEWS-OS to internal HDD after a few days.

Thanks,

I succeed to install NEWS-OS 4.2. And boot, X working. I think not have
problem on memory perhaps.

hmm...
Is this message from PROM? I was not found though saw the source code
of boot(8).

Has you idea of debugging?

Thanks,

I added some optional memories (8Mbyte) and tried again. The result
loading the kernel seems to have succeeded.

(sorry a late response)
bootxx on newsmips loads a secondary boot at 0x70000 for larger kernels,
so you have to have at least 8MB memory to boot NetBSD/newsmips.
(well, we should note it somewhere)

Hmm, news3200 should just work if you use serial console.
At least there are some reports of NWS-3260:
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-newsmips/2002/09/30/0002.html

Note 4.0 floppies work fine on NWS-3470D, so there might be
something wrong on checking models.

I succeeded in the start on NWS-3260 with the SERIAL console. However,
AUI was out of order, and it was not possible to connect it with LAN.
I might try obtaining se(4) or IP over SCSI.

Moreover, I obtained the patch of this LCD. I will report on this one
of these days.

Thanks

Maybe you have to check an AUI power fuse on the motherboard.

At least NWS-3410 has it:
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-newsmips/2003/05/26/0000.html

AUI port has a Voltage Plus pin:
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/63/ethaui.html
http://www.cisco.com/japanese/warp/public/3/jp/service/tac/63/ethaui-j.shtml
and the fuse might be connected to the power line.

Thank you for your follow. However, I did not have time to see it. I
will try it again in around February.
